The Girl On The
Roof Of The World

INSPIRED BY REAL EVENTS

The true adventures of a spirited six-year-old Himalayan girl almost murdered by her stepmother, who flees, survives alone on Mt. Everest, is kidnapped by a sex trafficker, escapes, and ultimately captures the hearts of an unconventional, loving American family.

A tale of loss and relentless determination, of rising from the ashes and the transformative power of love, set on Mt. Everest, in Kathmandu, and in Connecticut. Jonathan’s family experience inspired this story.

Notes:

• Two Second City alumni, Leah Enelow and Quinn Tessmann, are contributors to the script.
• A Blacklist Review is attached.

World War 1.5

A TRUE STORY

At twenty-one, Jonathan’s father, William Herrick, was among the first to fight Fascism in Europe. Journeying with the Abraham Lincoln Brigade from NYC to Madrid in January 1937, he fought on the front lines until a machine gun bullet almost killed him. So began his war drama.

William Herick’s novel, Hermanos, published in 1968, was a critical and commercial success. Otto Preminger purchased the movie rights for $1M (today’s dollars), and Reginald Rose wrote a 3+hour war epic. The massive budget was never obtained, and the rights reverted to Jonathan, who also owns the rights to his father’s memoir, Jumping the Line (Wisconsin Press). The latter describes both the war experience and his dramatic year living with Orson Welles when they were thirty.

In addition to the source material and the personal stories he was told, Jonathan has written a nine-page treatment of his take on the story

TOUCH YOUR HAND TO MY FACE

A COMING-OF-AGE ROMANCEa

A young teenage artist in pursuit of a mysterious older woman is swept into an unexpected sexual and spiritual journey that changes his life forever.

Notes:

• A five-character film set on a lake, this is the first episode of a six-part mini-series adapted from Jonathan’s novel (which has yet to seek publication).
• The novel can be condensed into a feature film.
